Abstract
|

|
To determine the growth pattern of the gas-trio wall during the second half of fetal life, morphometric study of the gastric walls of _a total of 31 human fetal stomachs aging from 18 weeks to term was carried out.
The results were as follows
1. Thickness of the mucosa rapidly increased by the time of 22 weeks of fetal age, and after that it slowly increased to term.
2. Thickness of the muscularis and that of the serosa gradually increased with fetal age. The increase of thickness of the mucosa was almostly the same as in that of the serosa, but was slower than that of the muscularis.
